Producent filmowy Clinton Greene zaprasza szóstkę swoich przyjaciół na tygodniowy rejs po Morzu Śródziemnym. Rok wcześniej wspólnie bawili się na imprezie, podczas której żona Clintona została śmiertelnie potrącona przez samochód, a sprawca zbiegł z miejsca zdarzenia. Tym razem Greene przygotowuje dla swoich gości grę: każdy otrzymuje kartę ze swoim sekretem i musi odkryć, co kryją karty pozostałych uczestników. Czy to tylko niewinna zabawa, czy misternie zaplanowana intryga mająca na celu ujawnienie mordercy jego żony?

Scenariusz „Ostatniego słowa Sheili” napisali dwaj nieheteronormatywni artyści: Anthony Perkins – najbardziej znany z roli w „Psychozie”, a ostatnio sportretowany w serialu „Potwory: Historia Eda Geina” oraz Stephen Sondheim, legendarny twórca musicali, takich jak „West Side Story”, „Tajemnica lasu” czy „Sweeney Todd”.

Dla obu twórców był to jedyny scenariusz pełnometrażowego filmu fabularnego. Wcześniej sami organizowali tzw. scavenger hunts dla swoich przyjaciół z nowojorskiej socjety. Choć w tamtym czasie żaden z nich nie był wyoutowany, przemycili do filmu queerowe wątki – odkryjemy je razem?

Film producer Clinton Greene invites six of his friends on a week-long cruise across the Mediterranean. A year earlier, they had all attended a party during which Clinton’s wife was fatally struck by a car, the driver fleeing the scene. This time, Greene has devised a game for his guests: each is given a card revealing their own secret and must uncover what is hidden on the others’. Is it merely innocent entertainment, or a carefully orchestrated plot to expose his wife’s killer?

The screenplay for “The Last of Sheila” was written by two non-heteronormative artists: Anthony Perkins – best known for his role in “Psycho” and more recently portrayed in the series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” – and Stephen Sondheim, the legendary creator of musicals such as “West Side Story”, “Into the Woods”, and “Sweeney Todd”.

For both writers, it was their only feature-length film screenplay. Previously, they had organized so-called scavenger hunts for their friends in New York high society. Although neither of them was out at the time, they managed to weave queer themes into the film – shall we uncover them together?
